Fares to the islands roughly triple between mid-July and the third week of August. Move your trip by fourteen days in either direction and the same flight, the same hotel and the same beach cost about half.
- Late May and early June, sea is swimmable, prices are shoulder-season, everything is open.
- Mid-September to early October, the warmest water of the year and half-empty flights.
- Tuesday and Wednesday departures are consistently the cheapest days out of Athens.
- Six to ten weeks ahead is the sweet spot for island hops. Earlier rarely helps.

Four things that reliably cut the price.
Move the date, not the trip
Search a whole month rather than a single day. Shifting a Greek island flight by two days saves 40 euro more often than not.
Price the bag, not the seat
A 19 euro low-cost fare with a 45 euro cabin bag is not a 19 euro fare. We fold baggage into the comparison so the ranking is real.
Book the shoulder season
Late May or the last two weeks of September have July’s weather for half the airfare and none of the crowds.
Watch the connection city
A stop through Athens is usually cheapest. On routes from northern Europe, a stop through Thessaloniki can undercut it.
