Home About

We only make money if you save some.

TransitNation is a comparison site, not a travel agency. Here is exactly how that works, and why it means we have no reason to lie to you about a price.

This started as a spreadsheet. One of us was living in Athens, flying to the islands most months, and kept noticing the same thing: the price of the identical seat on the identical plane varied by fifty euros depending on which of six websites you happened to open first. The same was true of hotels, and worse.

The spreadsheet turned into a habit of checking eight tabs before booking anything. TransitNation is that habit, automated, and pointed at the country we know best.

We started with Greece for a simple reason: it is genuinely complicated. Nine hundred islands, an airline network that funnels almost everything through Athens, and a season that opens and closes at different times on different islands. A generic global comparison engine gets Greece wrong constantly. We would rather be right about one country than approximately right about forty.

Italy and Spain come next, then the rest of Europe. The rule for each new country is the same: we do not publish a destination page until someone has actually been there and can tell you which neighbourhood to avoid.

The rules we set ourselves

Four things this site will never do.

No invented urgency

No three-people-are-looking-at-this, no countdown timers, no fake last-room warnings. If a hotel genuinely has two rooms left, we say two.

No fees, ever

We do not add a service charge, a card fee or a convenience line. The number you see is the seller number.

No paid rankings

Nobody can buy the top spot. Commission rates differ slightly between partners and we sort by price anyway.

No selling your data

There is no account to create and no newsletter wall. We do not build a profile on you and we have nothing to sell to a data broker.

The business model, in full

Someone has to pay for this. It is not you.

When you click through to an airline, a hotel or a booking site from here and complete a booking, that company pays us a small commission out of their own margin. It is the standard affiliate arrangement used by every comparison site on the internet, and we run it mainly through the Travelpayouts partner network.

Who to talk to

If something goes wrong with a booking.

We are not the seller, so we cannot change, refund or cancel anything for you, and pretending otherwise would only cost you time.

Contact the airline or the travel agent named on your booking confirmation. They hold the reservation and they are the only party who can change it. Within the EU, flight delay and cancellation compensation is governed by Regulation 261/2004 and is claimed from the operating airline.

Go to the booking site you completed the reservation on. Your confirmation email tells you which. They hold your payment and your reservation.

Airfares and room rates change by the minute, and a price found in a search is an indication, not an offer. The binding price is always the one shown on the seller own checkout page. Never book on the strength of a figure you saw here without confirming it there.

Because we would be the wrong people to email. We do not hold bookings, take payments or have access to any reservation. Every question that matters has to go to the company that sold you the trip, and routing it through us would only add a day to your problem.

Enough about us.
